Perhaps Rowling seeks to be seen as a societal change agent or culture reformer by finally admitting that Dumbledore is gay—but it seems more likely that an inner authority constantly telling her to shut up and be a good girl and she finally came out with something shocking and devilish that constitutes defiance against that authority.
